Scholarship Winner Spotlights
Jonathan Henson is a sophomore majoring in plant biology and minoring in music. He is from Herrin, Illinois, and has been playing in the Southern Illinois Symphony Orchestra as well as the SISO String Quartet at SIU since his junior year of high school. Jonathan also sings in the SIU Concert Choir and serves as vice president of the SIU Horticulture Club. Jonathan studies viola with Professor Michael Barta.
Eunice Koh graduated with a Bachelor of Music with Honours from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts – Royal College of Music, under the tutelage of Zhao Yu Er and Amanda Truelove. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Music Performance at Southern Illinois University with Dr. Eric Lenz.
Eunice enjoys performing in chamber groups and orchestras which led her to be part of many orchestras in Singapore, namely the Singapore Lyric Opera, Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, Singapore Youth Chinese Orchestra, The Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra of the Music Makers, Asian Cultural Symphony Orchestra, and more. Her interest in chamber music led her to be an active member of two chamber groups, Stringwerkz and Open Score Project. She participated in competitions with Stringwerkz and performed recitals in Singapore and Minnesota. Eunice also performed with Open Score Project in Singapore, Hanoi, and Shanghai.
