The SIU Carbondale Clarinet Choirs is a vibrant and happening place to be! The young artists in our studio are active in solo, chamber music, and large ensemble performance, composition, analysis, conducting, and teaching. Positive and personal attention to helping you develop your optimum musical potential is my priority. All of the clarinetists in the studio work together to help each other become the best clarinetist/musicians they can be. I invite you to join us, and discover the amazing diversity of our instrument’s possibilities for your own personal musical expression!

Some of the recent accomplishments of our current studio include:
Joel Auringer - Recipient of prestigious university-wide Master’s Fellowship. Joel has been accepted to the DMA program in Performance at the University of North Texas for fall, 2014.
Kristine Dizon - was awarded the J. William Fulbright Scholarship for advanced study and research at the Escola Superior de Musica Artes e Espectaculo with Antonio Saiote.
Season Cowley – Finalist for current university-wide Master’s Fellowship
John McCowen – Composition, Clarinet Quartet #1 accepted for performance at the 2014 ClarinetFest® in Baton Rouge, LA; recipient of SIUC Undergraduate Research Assistantship to study traditional pedagogical applications of extended performance techniques
Recent SIU graduates hold positions in orchestras in the U.S. and Taiwan, have university and conservatory teaching positions, pursue extensive solo and chamber music performance careers, and have been accepted into major doctoral programs at such universities as Arizona State University, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Florida State University, the University of Illinois, and Bowling Green State University.
